Marble Sculpture Commissions

Sculpture for Los Angeles & Southern California

Site-specific marble and bronze works for private gardens, modern residences, and architecture. Yoko Kubrick works between California and Pietrasanta, Italy, and undertakes commissions throughout California, including Los Angeles and Southern California.

Architecture & Sightlines

Whether integrating into a historic estate or a modern residence, a commission begins with how the sculpture relates to its setting. For Le Petit Trianon in San Francisco, Yoko placed Lethe on the main axis of a formal garden, calculating sightlines so the nine-foot marble form is encountered sequentially: first from the house, and eventually up close.

For sites in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, or Malibu, the same questions guide a work for a courtyard, pool, residence, or open landscape: scale, geometry, approach, and the movement of natural light.

A Place, Transformed

Before

Tides, a carved marble sculpture by Yoko Kubrick, installed on the Lone Mountain terrace at the University of San Francisco

After — Tides, University of San Francisco

The Tides project included structural engineering, a prepared concrete footing, stainless-steel pinning, transport, rigging, and crane-assisted installation. These practical requirements were developed with the sculpture and its permanent setting from the beginning.

Form and the Elements

Abstract form allows the surrounding landscape to participate in the sculpture. The carved surface of marble records the changing conditions of light throughout the day, catching the morning sun and holding shadows in the afternoon.

Artemis was among the marble works presented in Ovid's Metamorphosis, Kubrick's 2023 solo exhibition at Filoli Historic House and Garden. Installed among clipped hedges and formal paths, the work could be approached closely and read from across the garden.

Made for the Site

While Yoko does not maintain a Los Angeles studio, she works closely with clients, landscape architects, and designers across California. A commission begins with an understanding of the site: the architectural plans, the topography of the garden, and the daily movement of light.

Logistics such as equipment access, engineering, foundations, and crane installation are considered early and coordinated with the client and the project's architects, designers, engineers, and installation specialists as required.
