Ovid’s Metamorphosis at Filoli
Solo Exhibition · Filoli Historic House & Garden · Woodside, California · June 1–November 6, 2023
Ovid’s Metamorphosis was a 2023 solo exhibition at Filoli Historic House and Garden. Presented throughout the historic House and Garden, the abstract marble sculptures approached mythology as a language for transformation, change, and renewal rather than as literal illustration. Stone, movement, architecture, and landscape gave each work its own presence.

Artemis among the hedges at Filoli · Photograph by Craig Adams
Artemis was positioned against the structure of the garden, where Calacatta Michelangelo marble reads against dark planting and changes with the light throughout the day.
The setting provided a completed example of how Kubrick's work can enter a significant landscape without being separated from the architecture, planting, paths, and movement around it.
